Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 980th career goal on Oct. 9, 2026, playing for Al Nassr against Al Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League. The milestone strike came as a major milestone for the Portuguese forward.

It was his first club appearance back after reported friction with Portugal's national team setup. The win over Diriyah gave the club a welcome result heading further into the season.

Al Nassr's squad on the night also included several Gulf Cup 27 winners for the Diriyah derby. The depth in the side has made Al Nassr a consistent force in the Saudi Pro League this season.

The goal moves him nearer to the next milestone on his list in the Saudi Pro League. At this point in his playing days, each new entry on the tally keeps the spotlight on him around how far he can go.
