A tornado hit the Sicilian towns of Marsala and Petrosino on Friday, injuring two people and damaging homes and a school. The storm began as waterspouts off the western coast before moving inland, an unusual occurrence for the region.

The event attracted significant attention because tornadoes are seldom seen in Sicily. Authorities reviewed the extent of damage to residential buildings and the affected school in the aftermath.
